DaeDagor stepped onto the cold steps leading down to the jail, running his hand along the rough stone wall. He quickly jogged down the stairs, his eyes slowly adjusting to the dimness inside the jail. The Lasgole’s oldest son jerked his hand back suddenly as it scraped across something sharp on the wall. He shook his hand then looked at the wall where he had been cut. A sharp stone was peeking out along the stone. DaeDagor felt the palm of his hand, gently pressing on it to stop the blood. He continued to step down the staircase and he crossed the wet floor swiftly, the torchlight flickering over his face casting ominous shadows over it. He took the keys from his belt loop and set them on a ledge by the window. DaeDagor leaned against the wall, breathing in the moist, cold air of the jail. Ah, He thought. Nice and quiet. He fingered the silver knife at his waist, watching the people milling around the courtyard where he could see them through the window he was leaning next to.

Alaya sits in her stall, giving a small sigh of boredom. She had been in this stall for forever, and is still unsure of the time she will get out. The small female runs a hand through her hair and scuffs the dirt on the ground with a sigh. Alaya looks around at the small mat she is sitting on, at the gloominess of the cell, and at the small, teensy tiny window way up where she can't reach from her place on the floor. She tenses suddenly as she hears DaeDagor at the stairs. Wondering what he will do, she watches his form appear at the bottom of the stairs. Alaya narrows her eyes, wondering why the hell he even got the post of assassin in the first place, after all, he does nothing but come here and sit, never execution in anyone that she has heard of in her dark, pains tacked days down here. Huh, She thought with an unpleasant twinge in her stomach. Maybe I'll be the first, once the council decide what to do with me. that may not be for a while now, seeing as I've been here since I was 18 and a half. Half a year in this stinky, stupid, cursed cell. Alaya watches him for a while, wondering if he is just going to stare out that freaking window forever. She decides to try and engage him in conversation. After all, it's something to do besides sitting here staring at him. "Are you just going to stand their like a sculptor, or can you let me out for once?!" She asks, her voice tainted with suppressed fury at being here for so long.

DaeDagor shifted slightly as the only prisoner stared at him, but continued to watch out the window. He waited for her to finish speaking before slowly looking her way. "Oh," he said in a quiet, voice. "But you already know the answer. After all, I've told you the same answer every time you ask. I'll say it again, though, in case you've forgotten." He added with sarcasm. DaeDagor wondered if he would if he wasn’t ordered not to by the general. Of course I wouldn’t let her out! He thought to himself while fiddling with the keys. She would surely make a getaway. He then let out a sigh, his voice losing some of its hardness. “And anyway,” He scratched the back of his neck absentmindedly. “I wouldn’t go about talking to me like that. I have power over you right now, and could tell all those things you've been saying to me.” DaeDagor raised his eyebrows, silently hoping she would take his word of advice.

Alaya clenches her fists and steps away from the mat and to the edge of the cell, staring at him with piercing eyes. "I'm not going to kill you if you let me out, you know!" She says, not at all taking his words of advice. "And is that a threat?" Alaya fumes with anger and heat swirls in her brain from lack of food and drink. "When I get out of here," she says with her eyes flashing unhappily. "I'm not staying anywhere near you, or anyone else!" And with a final glare, Alaya heads to the back of her cell, leaning against the cool stone wall, closing here eyes. "I've even forgotten what the outside looks like, practically." She muttered darkly to herself.

DaeDagor let a faint smile creep up on his face, hardly visible. "Well," he said. "I'm pretty sure pesome people would appreciate that." Like me, for an example. He added silently. The Lasgole jammed his hands into his pockets. "Do you need anything while I' here at the moment? If not, I'll just go into my office." He asked, his gaze once again returning to the window. As DaeDagor waited for an answer, he listend to the faint sound of people talking through the small window watching out it stiffly, his handsome features sharp in the gathering dimness of the prison.

Alaya stares at him a moment longer, then looks up, her blue eyes trained on him. "If you could get me some water, it would be appreciated." She replies stiffly. Alaya hates when she needs help, it makes her seem weak. Atleast she wasn't dead. And anyway, Mayby when, or if, he got her water, she'd be able to call her mink, Alek. He was probaly off scavenging around for food at this very moment.

DarDagor nodded. "Will do," he replied. The male cleared his throat and began to walk back up the cold, winding stairs of the jail. He pushed his hair back off his sweaty forehead as he emerged into the blaring afternoon sunlight. With nimble hands, he picked up one of the tin cans from the side of the jail and ran his fingers over the coolness of it. DaeDagor headed over to the small creek.

Alaya watched him go, glad that she would finally have something to wet her parched mouth with. She waited until she could hear him no more, the let out a small whistle. A few moments later, something small and nimble came bounding down from where DaeDagor had just left. The creature, a mink, lifted it's small muzzle, then came pattering quietly over to her. It slipped between the bars of her cell and jumped onto Alaya's lap. She petted his brown and white fur while waiting for the executioner to come back; she always enjoyed these quiet moments of time alone without him, DaeDagor, down here.

DaeDagor stepping back into the dimmness of the jail, his eyes quickly adjusting. He slipped down the stairs, the tin of water clutched in his callused fingers. He paused for a moment to take a small sniff. He had begun to develope a cold, which was not good for him, as he hated being sick. After a moments pause, he continued down into the jail. "Alright," he said. "I've got the water."

Alaya heard DaeDagors footsteps for the second time today and quickly shooed the small animal back out. If he saw her with her mink, he's probaly not be very pleased. The mink didn't need to be told twice, as it was already scurrying away, it's white and brown fur disappearing amoung some sacks. Alaya watched it for a moment, then her gaze flitted up to DaeDagor's shadowy face. "Thank you." She said, reaching out to get the cup; she made sure that her actions didn't represent the desperation for the water as much as she felt.

DaeDagor set the nodded, handing the tin to her reaching fingers. His fingers brushed hers, and he felt a tingle at her tough. The Lasgole drew his hand back, and fiddled with the keys at his belt, wondering if she thought anything. Her hands were cold; he kindof wanted to warm them- no! His thoughts diverged suddenly, and he withdrew back to the wall beside the window. "I'll take it when your done." He said gruffly, shoving a hand into his pocket and staring at her drink.

Alaya Trey slowly brought the tin to her lips, barley noticing the brush of their fingers, due to her extreme thirstiest. She gulped the cool liquid, and let out an inward sigh as it moistened her dry throat. After finishing the drink in a matter of moments, she looked up to see her watcher had rest related to the wall again, where he was basically nine out of ten of the times she saw him. Alaya set the tin right through the bars and informt of the cell, then drew her hand back into her cell. She ran her fingers over a small stone she had found beside her as she watched DaeDagor out of the corner of her gaze.
